The Hudley family and the Mississippi Scott family found much of their
lives revolving around that geographical area, actually centering in the New Zion Church a few miles west of this growing
city of Crystal Springs.
Alice was born in Culpepper County, VA, but had moved with her
parents while still a child to join other relatives who had preceeded them to Copian County, MS, of which Crystal Springs
is the county seat.
Alice after the birth of her first child, daughter Velma, joined her
husband at the old Ball hotel and boarding House next to the old post office in Tylertown, MS, where Ernest had been
boarding until he could consolidate his family and purchase a home near his business. Ultimtely, his home was bought on Main
Street near the new post office. Alice died in childbirth. It was Ernest's only male child. She is buried near the home of
her parents in the city cemetery in Crystal Springs, MS.
