Marius fought in WWI as a Sergeant
in the U.S. Army. He enlisted as a single man age 29 years, occupation at the time of enlistment, clerk. He was discharged
on Feb 11, 1919, reason: demobalization per letter Nov 30, 1918.
Marius died the day before
or the day after Hurricane Audrey (6/27/1957) hit LA. My grandfather’s father we believe was named Firmin Fuselier. The only Marius
(other than my father Marius Jr.) that I ever see listed on genealogy sites has 1972 as the year he died. This Marius also
has a father named Firmin. I do not know if this date was ever verified or if everyone copied the same date. As of today (8/14/2005)
I have not requested a copy of my grandfathers death certificate. Nor Have I checked to see if the 1972 death date can be
verified. I hope to do this in the near future.
Note: Jo Ann Fuselier and Amelia Brownson
Fuselier both said that Marius's mother was American Indian (maybe Kosati). In Fact that side of the family tended to have
high cheek bones. Marius Fuselier, Jr. told his nephew Gary Caldwell that she was Italian. (I am still researching).
