Mason was born in Georgia and died in Caldwell Parish, LA. He is buried
in the mount Pleasant Cemetery, near Columbia, LA. He came with his father, mother, and two brothers to the Mississippi Territory
in 1809 and settled in what later became known as Simmonsville, in Pike County, MS.
Around 1950, Mason was living somewhere near his father in the Simmonsville
community, and he and his wife Malinda, withdrew their letters from Silver Creek Church at the same time. They were no doubt
planning to move when these letters were withdrawn, on October 22, 1859. The 1850 census shows Patience as his wife (2nd
wife).
Family tradition says that Mason moved from Mississippi to Louisanna and
"reared his family on the Ouachita River near Columbia, LA." "I find that he (Mason) bought property in 1868 and that property
has been sold to various persons as follows: from Abner Smith to Mason Simmons; from Mason Simmons to H.M. Simmons; H..M.
Simmons sold to Gerome Simmons; Gerome Simmons sold to Louisiana Central Lumber Company; and this company sold to the Brown
Paper Mill, which now owns the property."
