Joseph settled in Bridgewater; probably rem. to Kingston, MA., or Plympton, MA, as early as 1728; to Middletown, CT, in 1739 or 1740, and to Leicester, MA, in 1745.

In the book HISTORY OF LEICESTER, page 412-415 tells of JOSEPH WASHBURN, being born in Bridgewater and marrying Hannah Johnson born in Hingham; went to Middletown, Connecticut and came to Leicester, MA before 1745. His children were born in Bridgewater; and the following came with him or previously to Leicester: Seth 1723, Elijah, Ebenezer 1734, Abiah who married Jacob Wicker 1747, Sarah who married Joseph Cerley and went to Whitingham, Vermont and died in 1817, Mary who married a Mr. Clough of Stafford CT. He died in 1759; his widow died in 1780 aged eighty seven.
