Edna taught school for many years before marriage, as teacher, principal,
and supervisor in Mississippi Public Schools, then as a member of faculty of Martha Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA,
then in Wilson Teachers College, Washington D.C. Edna was for many years before her marriage in Leading American Educators.
It was while she was in Washington D.C. that she met and married Doak Campbell (his second wife, no children). Edna was
Vice President and President of MS Education Association while a teacher in MS. Edna was also co-author of a family history
that has added rich information to my research on the family genealogy.
(Edna had in her possession a copy of a circular from the State of VT,
Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, Woodstock, Jan 22, 1864 which contains instructions from the information of the Selectmen
of the several towns in VT as to the settlement of their accounts for recruiting service under the authority conferred upon
them by General Order No 1 of the Governor of VT, dated 10/28/1863. It is signed "By order of Governor Peter T Washburn Adjutant
and Inspector General").
