The "Campanile" (left), the "Dome" (ctr).
"Gate of Paradise," dubbed by Michelangelo.
The east doors of the Baptistry (1424-1452). Bronze doors
that mark the cities deliverence from the plague.
"Gate of Paradise'" (east door)
(top) The creation,
(ctr) The drunkeness of Noah and his sacrifice,
(bottom) Esau and Jacob.
To my great sadness the museum that exhibits the "David"
was closed the day we were in Florence so we had to settle with the David in the Piazza della Signoria. This replica symbolizes
triumph over tyrany. The original stood here until 1873.
