Model of the second floor of the annex.
A steep stairway leads up to Mr. and Mrs. Van Pels room, also the common living room where members of the group spent a great deal of time. Cooking, eating, studing, reading and gymnatics were all done here.

The revolving book case was especially made to hide the entrance to the back annex. The back annex could not be seen beyond this point because the windows had been covered with opaque paper.

Anne's room. The photos on the wall are what remain of Anne's collection that she placed on the wall herself.

The attic. It was used for food storage. Anne went up often. It was the only place she could be alone.

Anne wrote on July 9, 1942, "If you go up the next flight od stairs and open the door you are simply amazed that there could be such a big light room in such an old house by the cannal."

The staircase that was behind the hidden bookcase. These stairs led up to the secret annex.

The bathroom! This could only be used outside office hours. People working below had to be kept from knowing what was happening above their heads.
