Franklin, LA, The Palfrey House

The Palfrey house was built circa 1851 by Governor Joshua Baker for his daughter Frances Baker Palfrey. On the site of a former grist mill and sugar plantation, the house has a Neo-Classic doorway framed with multipaned lunettes. The four wooden Corinthian columns which are across the front of the house are repeated on the rear porch facing Bayou Teche.

Cambridge, MA, The Palfrey House

This house was originally built by John Gorham Palfrey. He bought twelve acres of land in Cambridge, MA in order to build his home. It was until recently located behind the Cyclotron Laboratory part of Harvard University. In 2005 it was moved to Hammond St in Cambridge which was part of the original twelve acres John owned. The Palfrey family owned the home except during the Civil War and for a period of time in the 1840s. Harvard University acquired the property in 1916.
