Tylertown is located in Walthall County, in southwest Mississippi.
The county was named in honor of Edward C. Walthall, a confederate General and United States Senator. Tylertown was
named after William G Tyler, a Bostonian and artilleryman that served under General Andrew Jackson during the Creek Campaign
and the War of 1812.
Tylertown is located approximately 90 miles north of New Orleans, Louisiana.
The population of Walthall County is 14,352 and the city of Tylertown 1,938 residents. The primary industry in this
area is agriculture. This city has been coined as the "Cream Pitcher of Mississippi". Tylertown has the largest
number of grade "A" dairies in the state.
